This painting is in the Main Dining Room of the Danville Country Club by Danville, KY artist Allan Crain.
I was inspired by the original painting by John Singer Sargent in 1903. I was enthralled with the translucent skin tone and the colors of her elaborate dress. I altered the face to be lovelier in my eyes and the Ming vase has been added plus a number of subtle changes. It is a portraitist duty to portray a lady in her best light and accentuate her positives and diminish her negatives if any.
The original is at the Portland Museum of Art Maine. Sargent also painted her nude so they could have been more than friends.
